Kargiakh (High Altitude Trek)

Fly into New Delhi, and a short, internal flight brings you to Chandigarh where we meet and begin our journey heading north towards the western Himalayas. Drive through the Outer, Inner and the Greater Himalayan ranges attending clinics, camping and interacting with the local populations on the way. A drive over a 15,700 foot pass brings us to the starting point of a 6-day partially self-contained high altitude trek over the 18,200 ft Phirtse La Pass to Zanskar valley where our team will provide care to inhabitants of the small settlements of Kargiakh and Kyng and resident monks of the two thousand year old Phuktar Monastery.

Following the trek and clinics in Zanskar, a day drive over two high mountain passes brings us to Leh, capital of Ladakh. A two night and one full day stay is built in to rest, recover and explore Leh. A flight over the western Himalayas brings you back to New Delhi for your flights back home.

Note: The 6-day, partially self-contained, high altitude trek is demanding trek with minimal comfort, all of it above the Himalayan tree-line in a rough mountainous terrain. Please take time to grasp the reality of this and conduct a personal inventory on yourself before signing-up.
